In ancient times, papyrus was commonly referred to as "草紙 (cǎo zhǐ)" in Chinese. Without discussing who invented it or its historical origins, there are various types of grass-based weaves available in Taiwan and the United States, with significant price differences, and some are even sold as futures or with minimum quantity restrictions. To make papyrus, the hard outer layer of the grass stem is peeled away, and the inner stem is cut into long strips. The strips are then soaked in water for six days to remove the sugar content. Afterward, the long strips are laid out side by side to form a layer, which is then covered by another layer. The two layers of thin strips are placed perpendicular to each other and woven into a mesh-like pattern that resembles fabric. The flattened layers are then placed between two layers of linen while still wet and pounded with a wooden mallet to remove excess water. Heavy objects are placed on top to apply pressure, and after drying, pumice is used to polish the surface, resulting in the final product of papyrus. In contrast, Ts'ai Lun's papermaking method involves pounding the fibers into pulp, removing the water, and drying the material to make paper, which is a distinct process from making papyrus.

Haste leads to loss of detail

On September 17, 2018, we launched the feature-rich M-type wine list, a product designed for right-to-left reading. The physical version of this wine list was launched a few days later in a department store in the Xinyi district of Taipei, Taiwan. However, during the development process of this product, we faced many challenges. These challenges included delays in the opening of the department store, content revisions, and style changes, among other factors, all of which caused great stress on our work.

In this situation, the pressure on the buyer's employees was also very high, and their emotions became somewhat unstable. In the later stages, there was a sense of urgency, and in order to meet the deadline, we sacrificed many work methods and details, which made the entire order very unpleasant and could potentially cause harm to our mental and physical health.

Here, we would like to explain to our new buyers that after confirming the transaction, we will only provide one real sample in a 1:1 ratio. If a second sample is required, the buyer will need to pay additional fees. It takes about 7-10 working days to make a sample, not including shipping and discussion time. Once the sample is confirmed to be correct, formal production will take 20-30 working days before shipping can take place. The weight of each package does not exceed 20 kg, so we will send several packages together. The entire process takes more than 30-40 working days, not including holidays.

In this case, the wine list cover was not completely dry upon delivery, which caused slight deformation during use. There were also some problems with the inner pages, such as the width being 5mm short, which caused the inner pages to get stuck in the wine list's four-dimensional pocket. This series of errors occurred because we worked too hard without discussing and paying attention to details during the sample-making process. We will take this as a lesson learned.

Our custom menus are one-of-a-kind and can be tailored to the buyer’s preferences. For room service menus, we intentionally make them thick and sturdy to prevent them from being taken away, but we can also make them small and thin based on the buyer’s needs. The materials used for the inside and outside of the menu can be mixed and matched to provide a wide range of options. We recommend using a four-hole metal clip for quick and easy replacement of the pages during events.

We support a variety of fine art papers for the inner pages.

The inner pages of this design utilize our proprietary technology, which includes cardboard pages, and is one of our recommended options. The entire series features pages that can be easily added, removed, or replaced, and we support the purchase of various types of fine art paper, waterproof paper, cardboard pages, and magazine paper for the inner pages. If you prefer not to use PVC materials, the aforementioned materials can be purchased separately for use as inner pages. However, only our shop’s products feature inner pages that are easy to flip, durable, without rebounding, and without cracking or splitting along the spine. Cardboard inner pages

Side-sealed cardboard inner pages are one of the original and recommended options for inner pages offered by our store.

The red circle indicates the area where the edge is most likely to be touched and also the easiest to fork. Therefore, our shop has applied a technique to round the edges slightly to reduce the frequency of forking, but it will eventually still fork.
